1kg Ethiopia Yirgacheffe HAFURSA
This coffee was grown by smallholder farmers living around the kabele (town) of HAFURSA in the Gedeo county, a region of Yirgacheffe.
Most contributing farmers own less than a hectare of land, and they grow coffee simply as a back yard cash crop. Coffee will often be interspersed with other subsistence crops such as avocados, sweet potato and mangos, but there are no other cah crops in the region.
The HAFURSA mill pays more than market price per kg for the red cherries. Those farmers that bring good quality red cherry are paid a cash incentive, ensuring a higher quality overall. Cofee is selectively hand picked before being delivered to the mill collection pionts, usually with in 5kms of the producers homes. Great care is taken to seperate any over ripe, under ripe or damaged cherries before the a combined with other lots.
